Hello, my name is Bryan Lahti. Currently, I’m a clinical counseling student at Colorado Christian University in my second year of their program. I graduated from their undergraduate program with a degree in Applied Psychology. Originally from Virginia, I made my way to Idaho after graduating high school and completing some college before enlisting in the military for a little over 7 years. While I took a break between getting out of the military and continuing my education for counseling, I became a field service engineer working on machines that produce microchips.

Outside of work life, I have a wife, one son, and two dogs. We enjoy doing outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, and hot springs. I also particularly enjoy skiing as well.

When thinking about being asked why I wanted to be a counselor, my immediate answer was because I wanted to help people. That is such a generic answer though. Most people want to help others even if to just a small extent, so I thought about it harder and I came to several big answers. I have dealt with depression, divorce, alcohol abuse, miscarriage, isolationism, and I have been in other bad situations. I have overcome these negative circumstances in my life and now I am happier than I ever had been. I understand many of the feelings that come with these situations and while I may not understand your exact situation, I never want anyone to feel the way I have. If you have been through any of these things, I want you to know that I can relate to your experience and want to be the helping hand reaching out to you. I want to be that counselor to say that I will work hard to help you navigate these difficult times.
